Twinkles Weekly: February 1, 2017

Simon is confident that he has cracked the image difference template generation, and expecting the new DIAimages to come out well, is setting up a new two-part pipeline for Tony to engineer into the workflow. At the DESC meeting, we’ll divide our 90 minute session into two parts, and spend half the time bringing the collaboration up to date on Twinkles 1 (and discussing our outstanding issues), and the other half dissecting and tasking our initial plan for Twinkles 2.

Run 3 DM Processing Update

How do the image differences look with the new 2.6 < IQ < 3.0 templates?

At the DESC meeting we’ll finalize our route to a complete set of Run 3 object and source tables.

DESC Meeting Session Plan

For our 90-minute Thursday 11am-12:30pm session we decided to make two slide sets:

  1. Twinkles 1 Results - where we show summaries (with figures) of various parts of the project. These will include:

    • Quick introduction to design, scope: Phil

    • PhoSim image creation: Tom (2 slides)

    • DM processing algorithm improvements: Simon

    • DM L2 processing at NERSC: Tony

    • Run 3 Production Status and Outlook: Phil

    • Data Access: Tables at NERSC, (which tables), access via Jupyter-dev: Bryce

    • Prospects for jupyter at NERSC (Mustafa?)

    • Descriptive statistics of the Run 3 / Run 1.1 images and catalogs: Bryce

    • Error model design, implementation and testing for Run 1.1: Rahul

  2. Twinkles 2 Plans - where we define an initial working design and identify work that needs to be done in various areas. The slides will include:

    • Overall concept, relative to Twinkles 1, connection to the rest of DC2, timeline: Phil

    • New cosmology inputs: lensed supernovae, microlensing, non-Ia SNe, hosts/arcs… Phil, Rahul

    • Non-cosmology inputs: other transients from LSST TVSC, realistic galaxies…: Scott

    • CI upgrades: PhoSim at NERSC following DC1 PhoSim Deep, others? : Richard

    • DM processing upgrades: Alerts, Brokered, enhanced templates, objects, MultIfit … : Phil, Simon, Michael

    • New science projects: SN classification systematics (Rahul), Host-dependent classification (Rahul), lens finding strategy and systematics (Phil), scene modeling tests (Michael and Phil)

Notes:

Action: Phil: start slides, partition into sections with names

Action: Michael start following slides and think of questions about gaps in the program
